On the morning of October 19, 2023, at ShenzhenUniversity Affiliated South China Hospital, the School of Physical Education of Shenzhen University, in conjunction with the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, and Shenzhen University Affiliated South China Hospital, held a fruitful research meeting on the integration of sports and health. The meeting discussed how to achieve the integrated development of sports and health.
The meeting was chaired by Wu Song, the president of Shenzhen University Affiliated South China Hospital, who warmly welcomed the delegation from the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Press and Tourism, the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, and Shenzhen University. He also organized a tour for all participants to visit the relevant medical facilities and departments of Shenzhen University Affiliated South China Hospital, and introduced the basic situation of the hospital and the integration of sports and health.
Following on-site research, the four parties engaged in in-depth discussions. First, Liu Jian, the dean of the Sports Institute, delivered a speech emphasizing the requirements of the "Healthy China 2030" plan issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, which calls for "widely promoting nationwide fitness activities, strengthening the integration of sports and medicine, and non-medical health interventions, and promoting sports activities among key populations to improve the physical fitness of the entire population." General Secretary Xi Jinping has spared no effort in promoting the deep integration of nationwide fitness and health, laying the foundation for the health of the people, forging the soul of confidence and self-reliance, and ultimately aiming to achieve the goal of a powerful sports nation. As a demonstration site, Shenzhen should strive to become a benchmark for the national integration of sports and health. Additionally, Dean Liu Jian shared some methods on how to promote the integration of sports and health with the three parties present, from the perspectives of scientific research platforms, sports talent, and community involvement.
Subsequently, Wang Zhiqiang, a first-level researcher (city-level management) atthe Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Press and Tourism, and Sports, emphasized at the meeting that in the process of achieving the integration of sports and health, scientific exercise prescriptions and sports rehabilitation methods must be implemented with standardized review standards and procedures, after strict initial and subsequent reviews.
At this exchange meeting, leaders from all parties put forward valuable opinions and suggestions, laying a solid foundation for the integrated development of sports and health and wellness. The meeting not only strengthened the ties between Shenzhen University and the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, and the Shenzhen University Affiliated South China Hospital, but also emphasized the determination of all four parties to jointly promote the rapid advancement of the integration of sports and health, aiming to establish sports hospitals or set up "Sports Rehabilitation" clinics in hospitals and community health centers, to meet the urgent needs of the national fitness and health for all.
