The School of Physical Education successfully hosted the "Academic Symposium on the High-Quality Development of Sports Disciplines"

From June 21 to 23, 2024, the School of Physical Education successfully hosted the "Academic Symposium on the High-Quality Development of Sports Disciplines" at the Yuehai Campus. The symposium invited prominent young experts active in the field of sports disciplines, including Professor Zhou Liangjun from Guangzhou Sport University, Professor Liu Chunhua from Tianjin Sport University, Professor Zhang Wenpeng from Yunnan Normal University, Professor Chai Wangjun from Xi'an Sports University, Professor Liu Mingyi from WuhanSports University, and Professor Yin Zhihua from East China Normal University. These experts presented an academic feast to over 100 teachers and students from the School of Physical Education. The symposium was chaired by Professor Liu Jian, Dean of the School of Physical Education.

Professor Liu Mingyi, with the title "Writing Sports Academic Papers on the Land of Our Motherland," shared his years of experience in teaching and research. He emphasized the importance of staying true to one's original aspirations and mission, advocating for the idea of coming from practice and returning to practice. He highlighted the need for scholarly learning to be coupled with practical application and personal growth through rigorous training. His talk inspired the teachers and students of the School of Physical Education on how to excel in their academic pursuits.

Professor Liu Mingyi is a professor and doctoral advisor at Wuhan Sports University, as well as an international-level referee. In 2022, he became the Chief Expert of the National Sports Think Tank "China Youth Sports and Education Integration Public Policy Research Center." He has led two projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation and has been involved in organizing and officiating at major sports events, including the Olympics, Youth Olympics, Asian Games, and National Games. As the first author, he has published over 50 papers in journals such asSports Science.

Professor Yin Zhihua's presentation, titled "The Growth Path for the High-Quality Development of Young Sports Scholars," focused on three key aspects:"Young Sports Scholars in Universities: Two Different Groups," "Academic Excellence: The Essential Work of Young Scholars," and "Guiding Students: What Young Scholars Should Do and Should Know." He shared his research experience and teaching insights based on these themes.

Professor Yin Zhihua is a professor and doctoral advisor at the School of Physical Education and Health, East China Normal University. He has led over 20 national and provincial-level projects and published more than 100 high-level journal papers. He has received multiple awards for teaching and research achievements from the Ministry of Education. Professor Yin is currently a reviewer for several CSSCI journals, includingJournal of Beijing Sport UniversityandJournal of Shanghai University of Sport. He is also one of the principal authors of the "Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition)."

Professor Chai Wangjun shared his insights on "Cultivating Research Logic in Sports Graduate Education," drawinguponhis many years of experience in graduate training. He used the theme "Logic in Scientific Research" to explain that academic research is fundamentally about theoretical thinking, not romantic imagination. He also recommended classic books on logical thinking for the teachers and students of the School of Physical Education.

Professor Chai Wangjun is currently the Associate Dean of the School of Sport Training at Xi'an Sports University and a Master's degree advisor. He joined Xi'an Sports University in November 2021 through a high-level talent recruitment program. His primary research focus is digital sports. He has led a National Social Science Fund project and six provincial-level projects, and has published over 30 papers in CSSCI journals.

Professor Zhang Wenpeng,drawing onhis experience with a National Philosophy and Social Science Fund project, gave a presentation titled "Interdisciplinary Theoretical Reflections and Recommendations on Teaching Physical Education and Health Courses." He shared his profound insights on four key aspects: "What is Interdisciplinary Thematic Teaching in Physical Education and Health Courses?", "Why Should Interdisciplinary Thematic Teaching Be Implemented?", "How to Implement Interdisciplinary Thematic Teaching in Physical Education and Health Courses?", and "Designing Interdisciplinary Thematic Teaching for Physical Education and Health Courses."

Professor Zhang Wenpeng is a professor and doctoral advisor in Curriculum and Instruction (with a focus on Physical Education) at Yunnan Normal University. He was selected as a key long-term leader talent for the Jiangxi Provincial Major Talent Program and is one of the first "Ganjiang Hai-Zhi" local leading talents. He serves as a reviewer for the National Teaching Achievement Award, a professional degree evaluation expert, and a reviewer for key talent plans and the National Social Science Fund. Over the past five years, he has led and completed 22 national and provincial-level research projects and published more than 20 high-level papers.

Professor Liu Chunhua's presentation was titled "Key Points, Application, and Interpretation of Sports Policy Analysis in the New Era of China." He provided an insightful discussion on three main areas: "Key Points of Policy Analysis," "Analysis of Policy Papers," and "Interpretation of New-Quality Productive Forces."

Professor Liu Chunhua is a doctoral advisor at Tianjin Sports University and the Head of the Faculty Work Department (Human Resources Office). His primary research focuses on government functions and performance evaluation, as well as public policy assessment. Over the past five years, he has led and participated in eight national and provincial-level research projects, published more than 20 papers in core journals, and authored six books, including monographs and textbooks.

The final expert to share was Professor Zhou Liangjun, who gave a presentation titled "Emphasizing Collaboration, Promoting Integration, Strengthening Practice: Exploration and Practice of Leisure Sports Talent Training System in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area." He shared the practical process of Guangzhou Sports University’s application for the Teaching Achievement Award, providing valuable experience for our school’s future award applications.

Professor Zhou Liangjun is currently the Dean of the Graduate School at Guangzhou Sports University and a doctoral advisor at Shanghai University of Sport. He is an expert in sports venue policies for the General Administration ofSport of China and a provincial-level talent under the "Thousand, Hundred, Ten Talent Training Program" of Guangdong Province. In the past five years, Professor Zhou has led and participated in four National Social Science Fund projects and three provincial-level projects. He has received five provincial and ministerial-level awards. He has published more than 20 papers in CSSCI journals such asSports ScienceandJournal of Sports Studies, with two of his papers fully reprinted by the People's University Reprint Journal. As an expert in the Guangdong Province Sports Industry High-end Think Tank, his decision-making consulting reports have received instructions and high praise from the Ministry of Finance and the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, and have been frequently reported by authoritative domestic media outlets.

Following the symposium, the six experts engaged in lively discussions with the f aculty and students of the School of Physical Education. The attendees expressed that they had gained invaluable insights from this academic event. The forum concluded successfully.
