The students of the College of Physical Education won the ‘26th China Youth May Fourth Medal’

"China Youth May Fourth Medal" is the highest honor awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and All-China Youth Federation to outstanding young people between the ages of 14 and 40 (above the age of 14 and below the age of 40). In 2022, three people from Shenzhen won the China Youth May Fourth Medal, who are all from Shenzhen University. They are Tang Muhan, Yang Junxuan and Chen Meng. Tang Muhan and Yang Junxuan are undergraduates majoring in sports training, and Chen Meng is an outstanding alumnus majoring in sports training.

In the swimming event of the Tokyo Olympic Games, Tang Muhan and her teammates won the gold medal of women's 4×200 meters freestyle relay in 7 minutes 40.33 seconds and set a new world record. She won the first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympic Games for Shenzhen. Meanwhile, this is also the first Olympic swimming gold medal of Guangdong Province. In addition, Tang also won the fifth of women's 400-meter freestyle final at the Tokyo Olympics. In September 2021, Tang Muhan won the gold medal of women's 400m freestyle and the gold medal of women's 200m freestyle at the 14th National Games.


Yang is the Asian record holder of women's 200m freestyle, who had broken the Asian record of this event twice in March 2021 and May 2021, respectively. She is also the world record holder of men's and women's 4 x 100m medley relay. The Chinese national team, composed by Zhang Yufei, Yang Xunxuan, Li Bingjie, and Tang Muhan, won the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay final at the Tokyo Olympics and set a new world record. As the first leg, Yang led the handover with a time of 1:54.37. She also won a silver medal at the 4×100m medley relay at the Tokyo Olympics. In September 2021, at the 14th National Games, Yang won gold medals at women's 4× 200m freestyle relay, women's 100 metres freestyle, and men's and women's mixed 4× 100m medley relay. She also won silver medals at women's 200 metres freestyle, women's 4× 200m medley relay, and women's 4× 100m medley relay.


Chen Meng is a famous table tennis player. In the past two years, she had won nine international championships and three national championships, as well as the World Cup and National championships. She is now ranked No. 1 worldwide. In the women's table tennis singles final at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Chen Meng defeated Sun Yingsha 4:2 to win the gold medal. In addition, Chen Meng, together with Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, won the gold medal of women's table tennis team at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Before, the Table Tennis Club of Shenzhen University defeated Shandong Luneng 3:1 in the final and won the gold medal for the first time in the 2020 Table Tennis Super League. On March 20th, 2022, Chen Meng won the WTT Singapore Grand Slam women's Singles title.
