From June 27 to July 2, 2026, the 2026 National College Dance Sport (Ballroom Dance) Championships, jointly organized by the China Student Sports Federation and the Zhaotong Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the Zhaotong Bureau of Education and Sports, were held in Zhaotong, Yunnan Province. Bringing together nearly 1,300 young dancers from 157 colleges and universities across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, the event unfolded on the vast land of Wumeng, where participants engaged in dance as a medium of athletic competition and artistic expression, jointly presenting a youthful gala that embodied both competitive excellence and aesthetic warmth.

Shenzhen University Dance Sport Team sent 11 members to the competition. Facing the dual challenges of high-altitude conditions and a dense competition schedule, the coaching staff adapted their strategies accordingly, flexibly adjusting pre-competition training rhythms and on-site tactical arrangements based on the athletes' real-time physical feedback, helping the team quickly acclimate to the competition environment. Over five days of intense competition, under the meticulous guidance of the team leader and coaches, the athletes progressed through preliminary rounds, repechages, semi-finals, and finals, completing 18 rounds and 19 dances in a tenacious contest. On the competition floor, the team members demonstrated excellent physical conditioning, refined technical execution, and a resilient, determined mindset, consistently pushing beyond their own limits. Ultimately, they secured 1 gold and 5 silver medals, placed fourth through eighth in multiple events, and successfully earned sixth place in the team standings for Category C Group A.In addition, the team was honored with the title of "Sportspersonship Award (Team)," while Ms. Su Shishan and team members Luo Pengyang and Zhang Shuyan each received the "Sportspersonship Award (Individual)."

This premier national championship for college Dance brought together competitors through the power of dance and promoted mutual exchange through competition, witnessing countless moments of youthful brilliance. The Shenzhen University athletes returned with 1 gold and 5 silver medals, yet behind this remarkable achievement lay challenges of academic pressures, injuries, altitude sickness, and a demanding competition schedule.Through their passion and sweat, they delivered a performance that left no room for regret.This impressive accomplishment not only stems from the Shenzhen University students' unwavering passion for Dance Sport, but also from the sustained attention, support, and institutional backing that the university and its school-level leadership have long devoted to the cultivation of campus sports culture. Looking ahead, the team will thoroughly review the lessons learned from this competition, forge ahead with resolve, and strive to scale even greater heights in future competitions.
